Union wants one nurse for every three patients following tragic death of seven-year-old girl in hospital

Concerned nurses have written an urgent letter to the West Australian Health Minister with a 10-point action plan following the tragic death of a seven-year-old girl.

Aishwarya Aswath developed a fever on Good Friday and was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital on Saturday but had to wait about two hours in the emergency department before she received treatment. She died soon after.

Health Minister Roger Cook this week admitted Aishwarya’s deteriorating condition may have been “overlooked” and said the tragedy would be reviewed but repeatedly denied the state was suffering a health crisis.
